Communication Science in the Digital Age workshop at International Communication Association
The Digital Societies and Technologies Research Coordination Network will co-sponsor a pre conference workshop, Communication Science in the Digital Age: New Frontiers in Theory and Research, organized by Brooke Foucault Welles and Sandra Gonzáles-Bailón at the upcoming 2015 annual meeting of the International Communication Association in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The research-capacity-building grant is provided by the NSF Digital Societies and Technologies Research Coordination Network to advance the science of sociotechnical systems.
This pre-conference workshop builds on a popular panel discussion at ICA’14 and aims to create a platform to discuss recent research at the intersection of computational and social science approaches to integrate knowledge and address the big puzzles that beat at the heart of communication research. Using digital data to tackle interesting questions and advance our research agendas requires partnerships across disciplinary boundaries that are still uncommon. This invitation-only workshop will bring together an interdisciplinary group of scholars for collaboration, presentations, and lively discussions about the opportunities and challenges enabled by computational communication research.
