LOCATION AND LODGING:
The DSST Summer Institute (DSST 2013) will be held at University of Maryland in College Park, MD USA. Lodging will be provided at The Marriott Inn and Conference Center (link below). Activities will take place on campus and at locations throughout the Washington DC/Baltimore area.
We ask that you arrange to arrive and check in prior to the opening reception, introductions, and dinner at 6:00pm Sunday, July 28th. Formal Summer Institute activities will wrap-up on the evening of Wednesday, July 31 (with optional tutorials/workshops on the morning of Thursday, August 1). [See the attached preliminary schedule for more detail].
The nearest major airports are Reagan National Airport (DCA), Baltimore/Washington International Airport (BWI), and Dulles International Airport (IAD). There are a variety of options for getting from these airports to UMD campus and the hotel (see link below).
We will be making arrangements for all meals/snacks from Dinner on Sunday, July 28th through Breakfast on August 1.
(This is where things get a bit complicated…)
Meal and Materials
Meals and materials will be provided for all DSST participants — you don’t need to do anything except enjoy it.
Lodging will be provided in the Marriott for all non-local DSST participants (if you aren’t sure if you are local — just ask).
DSST will cover the cost a double occupancy room (and will coordinate appropriate room sharing). This is done to facilitate networking.
If you would rather have a single occupancy room, they are available at the additional cost of $65/per night ($260 for the 4 days of the institute).
After you confirm your participation, we will make reservations for you. At check in, you will need to provide a credit card. At check out you will need to pay for the room ($260) and keep the receipt. You can then submit that receipt for reimbursement.
Some support for airfare and transportation to the venue is available for non-local DSST participants upon request. To receive travel support you will need to make flight arrangements, purchase the ticket, and submit appropriate receipts for reimbursement.
